LE ROY RENÉ
Distinctive jars designed to express taste and artisanal expertise
A BRAND ROOTED IN OVER 100 YEARS OF PROVENÇAL TRADITION
The origins of calissons, a flagship confectionery product, date back to the time of René d'Anjou, known as Good King René.
This sovereign took a particular interest in horticulture, founding the Botanical Garden of Marseille to cultivate various plants.
In 1454, he married Jeanne de Laval, and according to legend, her pastry chef created the calisson d'Aix on this occasion, a confection made with almonds and candied melon, which became emblematic of the city.
In 1920, Ernest Guillet opened a confectionery workshop in Aix-en-Provence, where he made nougats and the famous calissons, which quickly became famous throughout the region.
Passed down through three generations, Confiserie Le Roy René perpetuates the Provençal sweet tradition. Today, the confectionery's offerings are complemented by numerous products: nougats, caramel, biscuits, fruit jellies, chocolates, syrups, spreads, and more.
