    “NO MESSING AROUND WITH PACKAGING STOCK, EXACTLY WHAT WE NEED AS A COMPANY”

    You will encounter packaging from Berlin Packaging throughout the entire packaging chain. At our customer Holland Aromatics, this is reflected in various parts of the company. Full IBCs and jerry cans supply the machines in the production hall with fragrance oils, which are converted into semi-finished products for perfumes, scented candles, body lotions and room sprays that are beautifully displayed in the fragrance company’s showroom. “Berlin Packaging has a major influence on our business operations,” says Jarno Nelis of Holland Aromatics.

    When you visit our customer Holland Aromatics, the fragrance oil greets you as soon as you enter the site in Almere. The fragrance company focuses on the development and production of fragrances for every purpose. From shower gels and shampoos in the personal care market, to air fresheners and oil burners in the home care section. But the scents of Holland Aromatics can also be detected in fabric softeners, electrical appliances and even on paper. “We really make all kinds of things,” says Jarno Nelis enthusiastically as Operations Manager. And this requires many basic products. “We have a warehouse with more than a thousand types of raw materials. All in stock, necessary for production. For example, a perfume contains an average of 150 different fragrance oils.”

    Short lead time

    “We purchase large packaging units ranging from five to two hundred liters,” says Jarno. “The main added value that Berlin Packaging provides is the short lead time. A packaging unit is typically delivered within two working days, which is very convenient for us. We have limited space, so we want to minimize the amount of empty packaging units we keep in stock as much as possible. Combined with our irregular forecasting, we need flexibility. Berlin Packaging’s just-in-time delivery provides us with that flexibility, allowing us to focus on our core business: developing and producing fragrances.”

    Extensive packaging assortment

    Extensive packaging assortment Due to the many different raw materials, there are also many different requirements for a specific packaging. “Each product reacts differently,” Jarno knows. “For example, we always supply food-grade products in jerry cans and drums with a special inner coating. But there are also raw materials that require packaging with a barrier. This prevents migration of the filled product when packaged in a steel drum. Through years of collaboration between Berlin Packaging and Holland Aromatics, Berlin Packaging has gained knowledge about our products, enabling them to understand the requirements for the packaging.”

    Additionally, they have knowledge about regulations, which creates an advisory role. “In addition to the aforementioned product-specific packaging requirements, we supply both hazardous and non-hazardous goods. This means that we also require packaging with UN certification that meets ADR standards so that our products can be transported safely and in compliance with regulations.”

    Influence of packaging supplier

    Due to the intensive collaboration between Berlin Packaging and Holland Aromatics, the influence of the packaging supplier is significant, as Jarno indicates. “You contribute to the fact that our production can run smoothly by delivering on time and accurately. There is always a risk of contamination, or pollution. Packaging has a high impact, as even a small contamination can ruin the entire perfume. That’s why we produce semi-finished products directly in the final packaging, and thanks to the delivery from Berlin Packaging, this is almost always possible.”

    These are the conditions set by Holland Aromatics to consider an ideal packaging company. “I think we are simply two companies that fit together well,” explains Jarno. “You do exactly what you promise, that’s what it comes down to for me. When we have questions, you serve as a knowledge center. And most importantly, we never have any fuss with stock, which is exactly what we need.”
